Giftedness

During my Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Gifted Education, I extensively studied giftedness, primarily focusing on children. It was then that I recognised the scarcity of information about adults, which is surprising given that gifted children do not transform into neurotypical adults overnight. Due to the mistaken belief that gifted individuals invariably excel in their personal and professional lives, many gifted adults hesitate to identify with this form of neurodiversity. They tend to be highly self-critical of their perceived shortcomings and dismiss the possibility of being gifted. Some only realise this when their child receives a diagnosis, reacting with statements like, "But I was the same way!" This marks the beginning of their journey to rediscover themselves, which, from my observations, often leads to positive transformations.
